Vicksburg [Vicksburg]
a city on the ↑Mississippi River in the US state of ↑Mississippi. During the Civil War it was captured after the US army of General Grant had surrounded it for seven months. This gave the Union control of the river and split the ↑Confederate States. The Vicksburg National Military Park is a popular tourist attraction.
